Mastering

Mastering is the last phase of the production process. I'll carefully listen to your music and see if there are any problems that need fixing, and how the overall sound can be improved. I pay close attention to tonal balance, dynamics and stereo image. Lastly the music is boosted to the desired loudness levels for streaming platforms, CD pressing or vinyl cutting. In case of a multi-track release, I'll make sure the tracks are consistent in sound and volume.

Sending material

• Export your tracks at 44.100 Hz or higher, 24 or 32 bit.
• Remove any processing on the main bus and make sure there is about 6dB of headroom.
• Send the files to mail@soundsuite.nl. Please use a file transfer service (e.g. WeTransfer).
• Feel free to send reference material. Think of tracks that have the desired sound and dynamics.

Delivery

Depending on the chosen package (digital and/or vinyl), for each track you will receive 3 files for digital use, and/or 1 file for vinyl cutting:

• 16-bit WAV RMS master for CD pressing
• 24-bit WAV RMS master for digital use *
• 24-bit WAV LUFS master for streaming platforms
• 24-bit WAV RMS master for vinyl cutting
• 320-kbps MP3 rendered down from the 24-bit WAV RMS master for digital use *

If desired I can also provide DDP files for CD pressing.

* The 24-bit WAV RMS master and the MP3 are the main files for regular digital use. For example: including it in a DJ set, using it in a video edit, or sharing it directly with someone online.
